My friends, family and colleagues are surprised at how stronger, painless and flexible I’ve become by practicing Yoga at home. They just don’t understand how I can achieve such incredible results without putting in a lot of time at the Yoga studio every day. That’s why today I want to share with you this 7 secret reasons why Yoga at home works like a charm.
My favorite is number 6...
If you’re like me, you live a busy life, what with work and family obligations. I work long hours in a very demanding job. I am also the proud dad of two young boys who need time with us. I don’t have the time to just go to the gym or the Yoga studio anytime I want. If you take the time I would need to attend a Yoga class PLUS the time to get there, change, shower, etc… I don’t have that much time! And whichever time I have, I need to spend it in business trips, school events, birthday parties... or just quality time with my wife and kids!
The only time I have left are stolen minutes when the kids are (finally) sound asleep and my wife and I can catch up on our Netflix. This is the time I use for my Yoga practice. 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week is all you need!
Yoga often requires you to hold a position for a long period of time. And in most cases you’re supporting your full body weight. This requires you to build great strength. In my case, I discovered muscles I didn’t even know existed. That’s because Yoga positions recruit strength from your large muscle groups, your core muscles in particular.
As these muscles become stronger you’ll find it helps in other areas of your life. Your posture will improve. You’ll be stronger, physically, and thus able to lift and carry more than you used to. You’ll get less tired.
And you’ll burn fat and looks pretty darn fantastic too. My wife, for example, burnt 6 lb of fat in the first 2 weeks!
Because of my sedentary lifestyle and my long hours spent every day in front of a computer, I used to suffer from back, shoulder and neck pain. Massage, physical therapy or my osteopath didn’t do much. Surprisingly, it was my regular Yoga practice at home that cured me from these ailments!
My wife suffered from pain in the knees, hips and lower back every time she had to walk too much. But her pain disappeared, too.
Yoga stretches your muscles, lengthens your tendons, improves your articulations and straightens and aligns your whole body. You recover your natural posture and your pains go away.
How long since you last woke up fresh and relaxed after a good night’s sleep? In my case, it was probably years. At night, I used to stay awake for hours re-living all my worries and planning my next day’s to-do list. It was so exhausting!
But a good Yoga routine helped me sleep like a baby, because of its three main stress-reducing components:
So now I wake up relaxed and full of energy every day. And as a bonus I worry less, too!
Yoga cures all the main culprits of premature aging:
Yoga is the therapy your body needs. And since Yoga increases blood circulation and detoxifies all your internal organs, it’s helping your body recover and regenerate faster. And you will feel and look younger!
Peer pressure is the worst! For me, one of the best things of doing Yoga at home is there is no pressure to perform. I don’t need to be as good as that person in the mat to my left. I don’t need to look as cool as that guy to rows before me.
Actually, I normally wear an old T-shirt and pajama pants. And that makes me super happy, because it allows me to focus solely on my practice!
No-one will judge your looks or your level. If you wanna go easy, you can. If today you’re more tired, it’s alright!
As you can see, you can reap fantastic benefits from doing a super easy sequence that takes only 20 minutes. When I started my journey, I would've loved to get guidance from someone who was already practicing Yoga at home and was enjoying the benefits. Let me be that someone for you.
